As a cloud cost intelligence solution, we often get asked where we fit in the cloud cost universe — and whether or not we’re an alternative to CloudHealth. The short answer is: it depends. The landscape of cloud cost tools is busy, with lots of different solutions that take different approaches to helping companies optimize their cloud costs. To help answer this question, we thought we’d lay out the cloud cost landscape as we see it.

We’re excited about the upcoming Ubuntu 24.04 LTS release, Noble Numbat. Like all Ubuntu releases, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS comes with 5 years of free security maintenance for the main repository. Support can be expanded for an extra 5 years, and to include the universe repository, via Ubuntu Pro. Organisations looking to keep their systems secure without needing a major upgrade can also get the Legacy Support add-on to expand that support beyond the 10 years.

Modern monitoring systems depend heavily on ‘Alerting’ to reduce the Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) faulty systems. But, alerting hasn’t evolved to meet the demands of modern architectures. We’re changing that with Alert Studio.

Recently, we added powerful new K8s features to HAProxy Fusion Control Plane—enabling service discovery in any Kubernetes or Consul environment without complex, technical workarounds. We've covered the headlining features in our HAProxy Fusion Control Plane 1.2 LTS release blog. But while service discovery, external load balancing, and multi-cluster routing are undeniably beneficial, context helps us understand their impact.

A highlight of the SRE Report is the insightful analysis based on the organizational ranks of respondents. The 2023 installment exposed significant misalignment between practitioners and management in several key areas, including the benefits of AIOps, the challenge of tool sprawl, and attitudes towards blamelessness. While the 2024 SRE Report showed a rare consensus on the importance of monitoring external endpoints, it uncovered yet more ongoing differences. Let’s dive in.
