IREX Enhances FireTrack AI Module for Faster, More Accurate Fire Detection

WASHINGTON, DC — IREX, a global developer of ethical AI and intelligent video analytics, has announced a significant upgrade to its FireTrack fire and smoke detection module, expanding its capabilities across a wide range of environments.

A key improvement lies in the system’s ability to analyze how fire and smoke evolve over time. By doing so, it can distinguish real threats from misleading visuals such as fog, reflections, or vehicle headlights. This significantly reduces false alarms, ensuring that emergency teams can focus on genuine incidents rather than unnecessary alerts.

IREX has also introduced a more advanced visual recognition approach. Instead of relying on traditional bounding boxes to identify hazards, the system now uses segmentation technology. This method overlays color-coded masks—green for fire and red for smoke—directly onto affected areas, capturing their irregular shapes more precisely. As a result, the system can localize threats within a scene with greater accuracy.

Another advantage of the updated FireTrack module is its ability to deliver early warnings faster than conventional fire detection systems, such as optical or heat-based sensors. By continuously analyzing live video feeds for visual indicators of smoke and fire, it provides real-time alerts that can be verified immediately through accompanying video snapshots.
