October 2018 Online Meetup: Migrating from Rancher 1.6 to Rancher 2.1
Rancher 1.6, with Cattle as the orchestrator, is a widely adopted platform among both the open-source and enterprise communities. With the release of Rancher 2.0, we have shifted from a Cattle to Kubernetes-based orchestration platform. Due to large technology differences between the two platforms, there is no straightforward upgrade path available. Thus Rancher 1.6 users are faced with challenges in transitioning their applications to 2.0 and the recently released 2.1.
In our October Online Meetup, we will dive into how to transition various aspects of Rancher 1.6 applications to Rancher 2.1. During the Meetup, Rancher engineers Will Chan and Prachi Damle will discuss and demo:
- Key terminology differences and parallels between Rancher 1.6 and 2.1.
- How to implement elements like Port Mapping, HealthCheck, Service discovery, Scheduling and Load Balancing the 2.1 way.
- Demo a transformation of Cattle Compose files of a Rancher 1.6 application to Kubernetes YAML specs.
As always, all demonstrations will be live. We'll answer any and all questions you may have about containers, Kubernetes, and Rancher! Register now for your personal link for the meetup.
