Coffee break: SCOM v Azure Monitor, The Big Debate

“SCOM is dead” is a refrain often heard these days, in large part thanks to Microsoft’s latest marketing push on Azure Monitor. Luckily for you, that's fake news! Contrary to the view that Azure Monitor is fast replacing SCOM, the latter remains the most widely used monitoring tool today – and one that Microsoft remains invested in, as can be seen from SCOM 2019’s many new features. What is the real relationship between SCOM and Azure Monitor?

SCOM 2019: What's next

"Who doesn't love monitoring?" said no one ever. Well, no one but me. Seriously. I love monitoring, but oftentimes I felt like I was the only one. After 23 years at Purdue University I decided that it was time to change things up, try something new, and start looking to see if monitoring could be fun, interesting, and actually creative for someone other than myself. Surprisingly for me, SquaredUp was also interested in the same thing!

SquaredUp 4.4 Is here

We are delighted to announce the availability of SquaredUp for SCOM version 4.4. We have been rather busy at SquaredUp recently having just launched our new SquaredUp for Azure product. But we haven’t forgotten SCOM, far from it! And so SquaredUp for SCOM version 4.4 is now ready for prime time (note that we are calling it SquaredUp for SCOM to distinguish it from its new younger sibling).

Daily Ignite Briefing: Highlights from day #3

Our third day was a bit of a different one. We started off the morning with a SCOM roundtable session that featured presentations from Microsoft, NiCE, Cookdown and SquaredUp. Later in the afternoon, our CEO and Founder Richard delivered a talk on “Mastering Azure Monitor”, and then as usual we did a couple customer briefings, a few customer case studies, and loads and loads of demos – also gave out loads of LEGO!

Daily Ignite Briefing: Highlights from Day #2

Our second day at Ignite was busy busy as usual! We’ve gotten into the full swing of things now with the demos, presentations, customer briefings and LEGO giveaways. As expected, sessions we attended today were Azure focused, with an emphasis on proper (and hybrid) monitoring, cloud migrations, and new tech like Azure Arc.

Daily Ignite Briefing: Highlights from day #1

What a crazy first day at Microsoft Ignite 2019! As most of you know, Ignite 2019 kicked off yesterday (November 4th) in Orlando Florida, hosting a whopping 26,000 attendees from around the globe – and 26,000 it did feel like, our booth was swamped! Azure definitely took centre stage on Day 1 with Microsoft announcing new releases that take care of data from every angle.

Getting hands on with SquaredUp for Azure

I am hugely proud of our new product, SquaredUp for Azure. As a dashboarding tool it goes well beyond anything in the market today, and I think this product can be transformative for DevOps and IT teams using Azure everywhere. In case that sounds like unjustified hype I want to describe in this blogpost why I believe this, mainly by letting the product speak for itself.
