3 Key Takeaways from CloudNativeSecurityCon 2023

CloudNativeSecurityCon North America, a two-day event organized by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), recently took place in Seattle, Washington, and gave the industry an opportunity to come together to discuss cloud native security projects and how to address today’s security challenges and opportunities. Supply chain security was a hot topic at the event, as it has been across the industry for the last few years.

Inside ObservabilityCon: 'I picked up so much practical information'

I’ve always been wary about vendor events. In my experience, many of them are mostly marketing pitches, with little or no content that is applicable to my use cases. Despite that, last year I decided to convince my manager to let me attend ObservabilityCON 2022 to see what I could learn from it. My hope was that I would be able to get practical knowledge that could be applied as soon as I got back to work. (Spoiler alert: I did!)

CES EDGE23: Building a Culture of Change, Are You Willing & Able?

2023 started with a boost of positive energy after attending my first CES EDGE23 federal event sponsored by the GBEF (Government Business Executive Forum). As a sponsor of this year’s EDGE23 conference, I represented ScienceLogic as a co-moderator to a very relevant and thoughtful executive round table on navigating the challenges associated with ‘Continuous IT Modernization’.

SRE Trends from AWS re:Invent 2022

In November/December 2022 I attended AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas. It was certainly an experience for this small town kid from New Zealand, and one that I took a lot away from. While I was at the conference, I took the time to walk around and take notes. In this article I will share the trends that I observed which I think will have an impact on SRE work in 2023 and beyond, including: ...and others.

An insider's look at AWS re:Invent 2022

Greetings from Las Vegas, and the first “normal” AWS (Amazon Web Services) re:Invent since the show in 2019! We made it! Now begins the recovery and the slog back to “normal.” It does not matter if it was your first, third, or even fifth AWS re:Invent experience. You always end up walking away learning something new or finding new tools that you did not know you needed, and as always, more swag and freebies from the convention floor than you thought possible.

Event-Driven Architectures and Cloud DevOps - re:Invent 2022

After two years of virtual and reduced-size events, AWS re:Invent was in full swing for 2022 with over 50,000 attendees — more than double 2021’s in-person attendance. Among the many new service and feature announcements, there were two themes that resonated (re:Sonated?): event-driven architectures and cloud-powered innovation. These uniquely position AWS partners to accelerate their customers’ business transformations.

VMware Tanzu and AWS Accelerate Apps: Key Takeaways from AWS re:Invent 2022

Another successful AWS re:Invent is in the books for VMware Tanzu. This year, like in previous years, the event had a high attendance with 51,000+ people descending on Las Vegas to learn and explore everything AWS-related. However, there were some notable changes in the focus areas for 2022. This year, VMware was pleased to see that Amazon hosted their first-ever Kubernetes Leadership segment at re:Invent, delivered by Barry Cooks, vice president, Kubernetes for AWS.
