Datadog On WebRTC
WebRTC is a standard for real-time digital communications by enabling video, audio, and data streaming. Originally created for web browsers, Datadog uses WebRTC to create streaming applications across a variety of platforms, from Electron-based native applications to mobile applications.
In this episode, Jason Thomas, Senior Staff Engineer and co-founder of CoScreen, and Brad Carter, Senior Software Engineer, will join Brandon West to share their knowledge and discuss how Datadog uses WebRTC to create great customer experiences. Jason and Brad will talk about what WebRTC is and why the CoScreen team at Datadog uses it, how we built frequently requested video and audio processing features, and using data channels to send other kinds of information. You’ll leave with a better understanding of the WebRTC ecosystem, what it’s good at, and some of the tradeoffs involved in using it.
