Datadog offers various ways to manipulate your metric graphs so that you can create graphs that are specific and actionable for all of your use cases. Two methods of doing this—as explored in this video—are tag-based grouping and time aggregation.
Utilizing tag-based grouping allows you to group, and aggregate, metric data belonging to different values of your key:value tag pairs. For example, you can group CPU utilization data based on the cloud_provider tag, returning CPU data for all of the various cloud providers where you operate.
You can also use time aggregation, which is shown in this video with the rollup function. This function allows you to rollup data from it’s full resolution to a lower resolution based on the average, maximum, or minimum value of that data over the selected time period.
With tag-based grouping and time aggregation, you can customize and manipulate graphs to fit the exact use cases of your organization.
