In this QuickStart user guide, we will show you how to get started in PagerTree as an on-call team member.

Account admins will need to add you as a user to your company's account, this requires your name and company email.

After being invited by an account admin, you will receive an email from support@pagertree.com. This email will contain a link to log in, as well as your username and password. This process can be done on both mobile and desktop.

Click the link in the email to log in to your account for the first time. Upon logging in you will be asked to provide your phone number and then will be prompted to verify that number.
Note: You will not receive SMS or voice notifications if your number is not registered and verified.

You can then send a test alert to verify your number receives phone notifications.

To get push notifications, make sure to download the PagerTree mobile app from the Google play store or Apple App store.

Once downloaded, you will be prompted to sign in with the username and password from the original email. When you have logged in, you will be asked to register your device.
Note: you will not receive push notifications if your device is not registered.

You can then navigate to the “My settings” tab on the top right corner of the screen.

On this screen, you can select your preferred notification methods, including push, email, SMS, voice, and Slack. You can select all, one, or any combination of notification channels.

As an oncall user your day to day will consist of responding to alerts, lets take a look at those now.

When an alert is created, users will be notified in escalating order according to a team’s oncall schedule. If you are on-call and the alert comes to you, you will receive a notification via your preferred methods.

Look at that, I just received a push notification letting us know the server is down. Let’s acknowledge it.

When you click the notification the PagerTree app will open and you will be brought directly to the alert that prompted the notification.

Here you can see the alert is in open status. This means the alert has not been acknowledged by anyone on the team.

You will acknowledge the alert, which will change its status to “Acknowledged.”
This lets other users know this alert is being handled by you.

When you have resolved the problem that generated the alert, you simply open up the alertand select “resolve.” This lets other users know the issue has been resolved.

Great! You have now successfully resolved your first alert and are ready to be oncall.
