The job of the IT professional has become more difficult over the past decade. This is not necessarily due to the workload, but because of the dramatic shift we’ve seen in the way our organizations, employees, and customers are now operating in a software-powered world.
About two years ago here at Mattermost, we decided to start building a prototype for our mobile apps in React Native (RN for short). We were so impressed with how easy it was to build our app for both platforms that we ultimately decided that RN was the way to go for mattermost-mobile apps. Thanks to RN, we can focus exclusively on ensuring feature parity between our mobile apps and our webapp.
Cloud is a big part of Atlassian’s future, and we’re more focused than ever on delivering a great Server to Cloud migration experience. When developing software, there is no better way to test than doing it yourself. So that’s what we did. In an effort to learn more, understand pain points, and make a better experience for our customers, we migrated our whole company’s Jira and Confluence instances to the Atlassian Cloud.
First, an introduction. My name is Matt Yonkovit. In September, I joined Mattermost as the head of Customer Success. For the last 13 years, I’ve helped customers succeed using open source software. My goal at Mattermost is to build out a world-class support and success program that enables our customers and community to use Mattermost to revolutionize their business processes and workflow.

With an almost 20-year career in social services—including working in institutions such as The University of Chicago, the United States Peace Corps, Chicago public schools, Child Protective Services, the Catholic Church, and for the U.S. federal government in probation and parole programs—my leap into Silicon Valley was as much a culture shock as the 2.5 years I lived in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador.
Nowadays, all businesses are connected online with one another. Online interactions are the order of the day as even business deals are often finalized over chat room conversations. Online chats are often jumbled up and this is where the role of online tool “sameroom.io” comes into play. The tool works towards making chatroom interactions better and more fruitful.
