What is Podman? Well, we will start by saying that Podman is a container engine developed by RedHat, and yes, if you thought about Docker when reading container engine, you are on the right track. Podman wants to be the alternative to the well-known container Docker engine, but you may wonder: what does RedHat offer through Podman? Why should I switch to Podman? Is Podman the replacement for Docker or just another competitor?

Rancher is the enterprise computing platform to run Kubernetes on-premises, in the cloud and at the edge. It’s an excellent platform to get started with containers or for those who are struggling to scale up their Kubernetes operations in production. However, in a world increasingly dominated by public infrastructure providers like Google Cloud, it’s reasonable to ask how Rancher adds value to services like Google’s Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

Ocean by Spot delivers a serverless container experience by managing the underlying cloud infrastructure. It automates the scale up/down and management of spot instances, reserved capacity and on-demand instances (as needed) within a cluster. Ocean accomplishes this with a fundamental construct called Launch Specification.

As a system administrator, you will need to monitor your containers for a wide array of reasons. Between analyzing the health of your containers, avoiding resource constraints, and collecting, parsing, and visualizing data, one could easily get lost.

What distributed development teams need is this: A ‘single source of truth’ for software assets, one that is available to any team or individual, anywhere on the planet, whilst maintaining the highest levels of performance for all.

These three pages cover what we do in the robotics space, Canonical’s involvement with ROS and Open Robotics, and the relevance of community in the field of robotics. Our intention is to be another entry point for new users to involve themselves and to enable them to build robots with ROs on Ubuntu.

Often, when companies are new to Amazon Web Services (AWS), they aren’t focused much on the cost. They’re more likely fixated on taking advantage of the scalability and flexibility offered by the cloud. As a company’s AWS cloud infrastructure grows, it will find that its cloud costs grow as well. As the number of AWS accounts increases over time, there’s a higher chance of overspending on unnecessary cloud resources.
