The adoption of AIOps monitoring technologies has been somewhat slower in EUC than many other areas of IT. The legacy VDI and DaaS vendor tools set expectations low for many. It is still relatively common for us to come across potential customers who are using legacy tools and manually exporting 6 months of data into an excel spreadsheet to try and work out average and peak usage of resources such as CPU to then manually calculate alert thresholds.

Most SREs and IT Ops manage Java applications without source code access or communication with AppDev teams. When applications have performance issues those SREs or IT Ops teams deploying and maintaining the infrastructure often have to prove that it is the application at fault and supply information to the app supplier which provides evidence of the issue.

AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop) has grown in popularity and for many reasons many organizations are choosing to consume AVD via a specialist Managed Service Provider (MSP). For the MSPs offering AVD, monitoring and troubleshooting AVD especially for multi-tenant environments is challenging and involves significant, costly and skilled effort using native tools such as Azure Insights or Azure Monitor.

Many server-side applications are written in Java and often process tens of millions of requests per day. Key applications in various domains like finance, healthcare, insurance and education are often Java-based. When these applications slow down or fail, they affect the user experience and in turn, reduce business revenue. Behind many web forms or form-like GUIs there will often be a Java application.

I’ll cover the common causes of problems beyond logon and how you can monitor and troubleshoot to identify the root-causes of issues and how to resolve them resolve them. Here in the Benelux region, we have recently been seeing increased interest in our capabilities to monitor and automate root-cause diagnostics for VMware Tanzu and other containerized / K8s technologies. Many customers still rely on on-premises infrastructure to meet regulatory and compliance requirements such as data localization. Microsoft Azure offers a choice of relational and non-relational database services to support a wide range of application needs and demands. Built-in intelligence helps automate management tasks like high availability, scaling, and query performance tuning to provide users with services that ensure applications are always available and performant. Many services offer essentially limitless database scale and SLAs (Service Level Agreements) usually range between 99.9-99.999% availability.

For Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) sessions, Microsoft exposes a set of user experience and graphics performance counters that eG Enterprise monitors out-of-the-box. These performance counters for Azure Virtual Desktop and Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) / RemoteFX sessions can be used to troubleshoot AVD problems.
