Overcoming Bandwidth Bottlenecks

What is bandwidth? Bandwidth refers to the amount of data that can be sent or received by a particular device in a stipulated period. This is measured in Mbps (Megabits per second). Very often, people use bandwidth to refer to the speed of the internet connection. However, that is not the case. Talking about bandwidth vs. speed, the former helps understand the quantity of data transferred per second. At the same time, the latter focuses on the rate of data transfer from the source to the destination.

What is VPN? The acronyms that could save your life

What is VPN? You know that in IT we absolutely love acronyms, right? Specifying and summing things up is our thing. Digital Video Disc? DVD. Central Processing Unit? CPU. Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line? Yes, you guessed it right: ADSL. In fact, tell me a word, no matter how long… What the heck! let’s take one of the longest words, with no more and no less than 23 characters: electroencephalographer. Well, how would we find this word in a hypothetical technoglossary?

Deploying Calico in Your On-prem Kubernetes Cluster: Networking and Security Considerations

If you are deploying Kubernetes on-premises in your datacenter, this is a talk and demo you won’t want to miss. Networking and security might not be the first things that come to mind, but without some understanding of the networking and security decisions you’ll need to make, and the right options for your environment, you’re likely to get stuck or make the wrong assumptions. These may limit your ability to scale or integrate with the rest of the datacenter network.

Using Microsoft's New Network Connectivity Insights Tools

Microsoft’s new network insights tools – recently released as a preview – provides an overview of connectivity to your tenant and gathers information from the new Microsoft 365 network. These previews make it easier for administrators to better understand potential problems and whether users have good or bad connectivity to the service.

Tackling networking issues between users and cloud apps

By extending the capabilities of traditional network visibility, cloud adoption no longer comes at the cost of losing control over the quality of mission-critical systems. Even when employees can connect to an app from a mobile phone via places like a crowded airport Wi-Fi, with Flowmon's support of the cloud-native Packet Mirroring function, NetOps can ensure smooth service. This session will demonstrate how to identify the precise nature and origin of networking issues between your clients and apps hosted in Google Cloud Services.

Common and Disastrous Network Monitoring Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

If you run a sizable enterprise, your network is probably sprawling. You also probably have a network management or IT security team on the payroll to handle monitoring. Their job is to check the network for potential security intrusions, make sure resources aren’t overloaded in one area, and otherwise ensure that things run smoothly.
