The growing adoption of microservices and Kubernetes gave rise to the need to efficiently manage, schedule, and control Kubernetes clusters, where tools like Terraform are helping many organizations address those challenges today. Terraform is a popular choice among DevOps and Platform Engineering teams as engineers can use the tool to quickly spin up and edit environments directly from their CI/CD pipelines.

Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about the relationship between world-class athletes and world-class IT systems. At first glance, it seems like there’d be little to compare, but there’s an interesting relationship between preparation and performance both these worlds share. During the Olympics, we see people cover 100 metres in under 10 seconds, cut through a pool in a minute, and stick landings with precision.

Since last week, I’ve been speaking with Splunk customers and our own team about the cyberattacks impacting the Kaseya software platform. While Splunk was not impacted by the ransomware attack, as a security leader we want to help the industry by providing tools, guidance and support. It’s critical that we work together as a community to counter cybersecurity threats and share information about events like these.

For years, IT experts and institutions have promoted the likes of Agile, ITSM, DevOps and other popular methods as a way for technology professionals to boost their own careers and to help departments break down complex modern work problems. And IT leaders have used these methods to communicate value (albeit reactively) to business executives to help explain the work they do between IT and non-IT people.

The connected reality of gadgets presented by the Internet of Things (IoT) can no longer be considered as just a buzz as it has already transformed our living to a great extent. The connected things made our homes, workplaces, and transportation smarter. No wonder IoT apps are now one of the most popular app categories. As the latest statistics reveal, the global market share of IoT apps is expected to touch a whopping 520 billion USD by the end of 2021.

When considering the fact that 2020 was a record breaker in the number of cyberattacks that occurred and the resulting cost to organizations that was incurred, it is clear that the state of cybersecurity readiness is not very encouraging, to say the least.

IDC recently surveyed nearly 2,000 IT and business executives on their maturity as it relates to organizational agility. Although the vast majority identified agility as a critical business capability in a digital economy, less than 15% identified as extremely agile.

For many businesses today, security automation is something of a paradox. It’s no secret that automation is important, and a large number of businesses have invested in security automation solutions. Yet the never-ending stream of headlines about major cybersecurity attacks suggests that, for most of these companies, security automation doesn’t end up delivering the intended results.
