The economy has also been a casualty, as some companies have transformed and thrived while many others have stumbled and dissolved. But then, just as 2020 was bowing out, hope emerged. Three promising vaccines had produced better than expected results in clinical trials. Governments around the world rushed to approve them.

The recent changes to the Elasticsearch license could have consequences on your intellectual property. On the 14th of January 2021, Elastic announced through their blog that Elasticsearch and Kibana will be moving over to a Server Side Public License (SSPL). In my position, I get to work with a wide variety of organizations that each have a different level of monitoring maturity. But I’ve noticed an emerging pattern that I’ll call the ‘Critical Service Offering’ or ‘Executive Level Status’ dashboard. At their most basic level, these dashboards should communicate the current health of the application, provide some historical context and, most importantly, not be tied to infrastructure monitoring.
