Kubernetes Master Class: Understanding and Implementing Service Mesh

Service mesh has developed a huge amount of excitement in the Kubernetes ecosystem. Istio is a service mesh tool built right into Rancher. Service mesh promises to add fault tolerance, canary rollouts, A/B testing, monitoring and metrics, tracing and observability, and authentication and authorization, eliminating the need for developers to instrument or write specific code to enable these capabilities. The goal is to let developers focus on their business logic and leave the rest to Kubernetes and Istio. But many users find it challenging to install, configure, monitor and manage their service mesh solution.

Improving Network Performance and Agility with Automation and AIOps

In today’s digital world, a business’ success is inextricably tied to its ability to meet customer demands and rising expectations for quality, performance, responsiveness, and innovation. Digital transformation is no longer an optional add-on to help an organization stand out in a saturated market. It is a necessity for businesses hoping to keep up with fierce competition.

Monitor VPNs-The secure gateway to your networks

While SaaS has made digital transformation a cakewalk, the virtual private network (VPN) takes credit when it comes to remote work. A lot of enterprises, as well as small and medium-sized businesses, continue their seamless operations remotely and securely through their VPN. VPNs enable private networks to communicate with the compute resources of public and shared networks.

Have you modified your network configs for remote workers? Keep track of and manage changes.

By now, we’re all fairly aware that the ongoing crisis has changed the way people work. Businesses around the globe have adopted the remote working model. Many jobs today are compatible with remote working, with business-critical applications readily accessible through the internet. However, not all applications deployed in an organization are available through the internet. Some of them are available only on the business’ LAN due to security concerns.

HAProxyConf 2019 - Building a Service Mesh at Criteo with Consul and HAProxy by Pierre Souchay

At Criteo, we have been working on building a tight integration between HashiCorp Consul and HAProxy. In this talk, we will explain how we provision our HAProxy instances dynamically using Consul Connect, a new service mesh technology that allows HAProxy to talk to its peers from machine-to-machine without a traditional load balancer. We will detail how we are able to create a service with DNS, add load balancing, and configure SSL certificates in mere seconds. Since Criteo is working actively on enabling HAProxy with Consul Connect, we will explain the challenges of scaling Service Mesh architectures for large infrastructures.

Handling security and capacity challenges when working remotely

Current world situation forces many a people to work remotely – e.g., from home. While it is the safest approach to diminish possible risks to health, there are information security risks and challenges appearing in the wake of the trend. Working remotely can be tricky; especially when we talk about a network and/or system administrator work. What’s worse, administrator’s access shouldn’t be interrupted, putting the entire setup at stake.

How an IT services company reduced service delivery time by 50%

When it comes to IT Services, their whole world revolves around offering technology solutions with support and management. For these companies, it has become important now, more than ever, to modernize their workspaces and make the shift with IT digitization to effectively manage complexities like maintenance, security, scalability and resilience. While digital transformation may sound great in theory, in practice, it presents some unique concerns for businesses.
